What is the difference between bar jokes and band jokes?

Bar jokes and band jokes are often used to keep people entertained. Many people who go into a bar are looking for company and bartenders often talk to their clients in a manner that makes them seem as though they are a friend. Those who visit bars often know quite a few bar jokes as they learn them from the bartender, or find jokes to tell the bartender. Anyone who has ever worked as a bartender knows a lot of bar jokes.

Band jokes are very similar. Band members have to take a break now and then and warm up the crowd. Even those who are in large bands with a big following will not usually just come out and sing. For the most part, they will talk to the crowd for a little bit and warm them up with band jokes. Many of the jokes that are told by band members to the audience consist of anecdotes, real or imagined that the band endured. This gives the crowd a laugh and also gives the band members a break.

There are hundreds of good jokes online relating to all different situations.  The guy walks into a bar is one of the standards for telling a joke. Such as the old joke that states a guy walks into a bar with a duck on his head. The bartender asks the guy what he can do for him and the duck replies "Get this guy off my butt". This is an old joke and what makes it funny is the ironic punch line. All good jokes should have a snappy punch line if they are to get a chuckle.

Band jokes are often used when bands are hired to play at certain functions.  The band is the entertainment and as so, must act in a way to entertain the crowd. This does not just include playing music, but also telling a few good jokes. There are also bad jokes about bands that are in the news or famous bands that go around and people tell one another. Most of these types of band jokes poke fun of the band.

Anyone who works with the public and is expected to entertain people, be they a musician in a band or a bartender, can get a chuckle out of people and keep them entertained while telling jokes. This is not just used as entertainment, but is also very effective when it comes to crowd control.  Bartenders will often use humor in such a way to deflect a fight between two patrons. Band members will use humor to keep the crowd under control.  There is an old saying that laughter is the best medicine, and it holds true in both bars as well as parties, especially when alcohol is involved. It always pays, for those tending bar or entertaining at parties, to have a few good jokes lined up to get people laughing.
